CHUCK AND PHILS
DEMOLITION
PAGE

Here is how the demolition began -- Next door to us there is a house that is a little smaller than ours. It has been rented by some pretty trashy people and has gotten ruined in the process. Our landlord has asked me if I will tear it down. Here are some pictures to show you how the work is being done and what a huge job it has been for us. This is one of the first days when my buddy Phil and I tackled the roof, almost having only one casualty for the day - that would be me sticking my foot through the roof unsuspectantly!

Here is where I got the brilliant ideas of knocking the wall down to make it easier to get all the junk out of the house. If you notice, it is only the left half of the wall. I had a reason for that and that is we weren't sure if the roof was going to fall on our mellons or not. It turned out the roof was held up better than we thought.
After many tests we felt it was safe to knock the other side of the wall out. We left the center supports up however while we knocked out the rest of the walls inside as well as the rest of the wall.

Here is Phil and I taking a break to pose for the camera. At this point we finished knocking out everything in the middle of the house except for two vertical 2 X 4s. We left them in the the center of the house just in case... Later we found out that it was a mistake leaving those two because when it came time to knock out the outter supports of the house those two 2 X 4s were the only things holding to roof up!
This picture was taken at the end of the next day. This is the stage of the project where I learned that a chain and a truck can do alot more damage and alot faster than a hammer, a pry bar, and a sledge hammer.
Here is Phil sitting on the roof that took forever to get down. During the whole project our clothes took a beating from the shingle nails. Both of our back pockets were ripped up but that only means that we spent alot of time on our butts haha because that is the only way they could of gotten there.
This is one of the final stages to a long project. Our landlord got a call from the city telling him this last part of the house needed to be taken down emimmediately because it didn't look to safe. So in this picture I have my truck hooked up to the corner beam with the peddle to the metal..
